The fine print
Terms of Service
Plain-English terms for decking work carried out by Dundalk Decking Co in Dundalk and County Louth, covering quotes, materials, workmanship and governing law.
These terms set out how we work with you. They are written in plain English. By asking us to quote for or carry out work, you agree to these terms. If anything is unclear, just ask us before work begins.
Who we are
Dundalk Decking Co is a decking contractor based in Dundalk, Co. Louth, serving County Louth. We are a small father-and-son team and we are fully insured.
Quotes and estimates
Any price we give before a site visit is an estimate only. We confirm a firm written price after we have visited the site and seen the ground conditions, access, levels and your chosen materials. Our written quote sets out what is included.
Once you accept a written quote, that price is what we will charge, unless the work changes. If you ask for extra work, or we find hidden problems once work starts (for example a poor existing sub-frame), we will tell you and agree any change in price with you before we carry on.
No finance
We do not offer finance, credit, instalment or buy-now-pay-later arrangements of any kind. All work is quoted and paid for directly.
Payment
We will set out payment terms in your written quote. Please check them before accepting.
Materials and warranties
We work with composite decking systems from approved manufacturers, including Trex and Millboard. These products come with the manufacturer’s own product warranty. We pass those manufacturer warranties on to you and will tell you which products we have used so you can keep the details. The manufacturer’s warranty is between you and the manufacturer and is subject to their terms and conditions.
We do not make claims about how the materials will perform beyond what the manufacturer states.
Our workmanship
We take pride in our work and aim to install your decking to a high standard. If something we have installed is not right because of our workmanship, tell us within a reasonable time and we will put it right. This does not cover normal wear, damage caused by misuse or accidents, lack of basic care, ground movement outside our control, or changes made by others after we finish.
Looking after your deck
Composite decking still needs basic care, such as keeping it clear of debris and cleaning it from time to time. We will give you simple guidance on completion. Damage caused by neglect is not covered by our workmanship.
Liability
We carry insurance and take reasonable care on every job. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Beyond that, our liability for any single job is limited to the value of the work carried out under that job. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under Irish law.
Access and site conditions
To carry out the work we need safe and reasonable access to the area. Please let us know in advance about anything that could affect the work, such as underground services, drains, boundaries or shared access.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
