Composite & hardwood decking
Capped composite or warm natural hardwood, laid over an engineered, free-draining sub-frame that stays level and silent underfoot for years.
North Louth composite decking specialist
We are not a landscaper who also lays a few boards. We design and build composite and hardwood decks, engineered for the Irish climate and finished to last, right across Dundalk and Co. Louth.

What we build
Capped composite or warm natural hardwood, laid over an engineered, free-draining sub-frame that stays level and silent underfoot for years.
Split levels and lit composite steps that follow the fall of the ground, like the staircase on our Carlingford Marina build.
Decked platforms built for saunas, plunge pools and hot tubs, with balustrades, screens and shelter that turn a deck into a place you live in.
Recessed step lights, glass and metal balustrades and festoon runs that let the whole space carry on long after the sun goes down.
Flagship project
A marina-edge wellness deck built for the toughest spot on the east coast: salt air, tidal access and constant footfall. From bare sub-frame to a finished, lit composite deck with twin plunge pools and a cedar sauna. Drag to see the build.
Before
Where the craft shows
On this Carlingford garden we decked straight around a stand of mature trees, scribing each board tight to the living trunks and leaving them room to grow. It is slow, careful work, and it is the kind of detail that tells you who actually built a deck and who just laid the boards.
How we work
We measure the site, listen to how you want to use it, and draw the levels, materials and lighting before a single board is cut.
A proper sub-frame first: treated, ventilated and dead level. Everything that lasts is decided underneath the deck.
Tight, even gaps, hidden fixings and clean edge detail. The finish is the part you see, so we treat it that way.
Steps, balustrades, screens, lighting and the spa or sauna platform: the details that turn a deck into a place.
The people on the tools
We are a small Dundalk team, not a sales office that sends a different crew every week. The pair who price your job are the pair who build it, and we are still standing on it when the last board goes down. That is how you get a deck finished properly and a straight answer whenever you ring.
What people say
Verified reviews for Seamus and Pete's decking and patio work, the same pair who build every Dundalk Decking project.
"Dundalk Gardening Service provides a really excellent hard and soft landscaping service. From chatting to Seamus at initial enquiry stages, through to consultation and delivery of a really smart decking solution in my garden - Seamus and Pete were very professional, respectful and friendly."
"Can't recommend Seamus and crew enough. Customer service from initial contact was so good I cynically thought it was too good to be true. He turned up when he said he would and even phoned when running 10mins late for first appointment. He came back with price when he said he would . He started job when he said he would . His workmanship is brilliant and offered great advice and ideas. The good humour and respectful manner of he and his team around our home made the job a very positive experience. Only negative is he didn't provide us with the summer weather to allow us to enjoy more of our beautiful deck . We are very happy customers and would highly recommend Seamus and co."
"I found Seamus and his team online and wanted some decking done in my back garden. I knew that I'd need to book it in advance but he was able to do it quicker than he had indicated which was great."
"Seamus and the team have done a fantastic job laying a patio for us, and I couldn't be happier! From start to finish, Seamus was professional, easy to deal with, and full of great advice. The workmanship is top-notch, and the patio has transformed our outdoor space. They worked quickly, kept everything tidy, and were an absolute pleasure to have around. If you're looking for a reliable, friendly service with brilliant results, Seamus is your man. Highly recommend!"

Call 085 168 5170It depends on how you want to live with it. Composite (we fit Trex and Millboard) holds its colour and needs little more than a wash down, so it suits busy gardens and waterside spots. Natural hardwood has a warmth some people prefer and can be re-oiled over time. We will talk you through both honestly on the site visit and quote for whichever fits.
Most domestic decks are a few days on site once we start, depending on size, levels and groundwork. We give you a realistic timescale in your written quote before any work begins, so you are not left guessing.
Yes. A lot of Louth gardens fall away or sit above the house, so raised platforms, integrated steps and balustrades are a big part of what we do. The lit staircase on our Carlingford Marina build is a good example of what is possible.
We fit recessed step and deck lighting, glass and metal balustrades, privacy screens and festoon runs as part of the build, so the whole space carries on after dark. It is all designed in from the start rather than added on afterwards.
Yes, we are fully insured. We are a small local team - Seamus and Pete - so you deal with the people doing the work from the first call to the last board.
Call or WhatsApp us on 085 168 5170. We usually call back the same day, come and measure, and follow up with a clear written quote. No obligation and no hard sell.
