Boards built to last, that keep their colour and don’t turn slippery the minute it rains. No annual oiling, no scrubbing off algae. A deck you keep up with a hose and a brush, not a weekend’s work every spring.

Tired of the Maintenance and the Green Algae?
If you’ve had a timber deck before, you know the routine. By spring it’s gone green and slippery, so out comes the pressure washer. Then it needs oiling or it’ll start to grey and lift. And that’s the job that never ends, the one that makes people say decking just isn’t worth it in our climate.
Composite is the answer to that. It’s a board made to sit out in the wet all year and still look right, with no oiling needed and a grippy, anti-slip surface that holds up when it’s lashing.
That’s why most of the people asking us to replace an old wooden deck, including landlords sorting a tired deck at a rental, are choosing composite the second time around.
How We Fit It
Composite is only as good as the frame under it, so the build matters more than the board.
- You call. Seamus arranges to come out, look at the garden and talk through your options.
- You get an itemised quote. A written price with the board, the frame, the steps and the cleanup all listed, and old-deck removal included.
- We build it right. A properly spaced, ventilated subframe with drainage, boards laid for run-off and fixed with hidden clips, ends and edges finished cleanly.
- We leave it tidy. The old deck goes with us and the site is left neat, the way you’d want to find it.
What You Get
A low-maintenance outdoor living space that’s ready to use and stays looking right for years, not one you’re forever working on.
- Anti-slip, grippy boards that stay safe in the wet
- Boards that keep their colour and grip without warping
- A choice of colours and finishes to suit the house and garden
- A reputable, named board brand with a manufacturer warranty, not a no-name board
- Built-in seating, planters, lighting or steps if you want them, all in the one job

What It Costs
Composite costs more upfront than timber, and we’ll be straight with you about that. Where it earns its money back is the years afterwards: no oil, no stain, no replacing boards that failed. Over the life of the deck it usually works out the better value.
Every garden is different, so we don’t quote a flat figure online. You get a fixed, written, itemised price after we’ve seen the job, with no surprises at the end. See our decking cost guide for the per square metre ranges we work to.
Composite Decking FAQ
Is composite decking slippery?
Far less than old, untreated timber, which is where most of the slipping stories come from. Composite boards are made with a textured, anti-slip surface, and laid with proper run-off they stay safe to walk on in the wet. It’s one of the main reasons people switch to it here.
How long does composite decking last?
A good composite board, fitted on a sound frame, will typically last 25 years or more, and reputable boards carry a manufacturer warranty to match. We’ll tell you honestly which boards we’d stand over and why, rather than chasing the longest number on a label.
What’s the difference between timber and composite decking?
Timber is natural wood, warmer underfoot and lower upfront, but it needs sealing and yearly upkeep to last in the damp. Composite is a wood-and-plastic board that costs more to start but keeps its colour and grip and barely needs maintenance. We fit both, and we’ll tell you which suits your garden. See our timber decking page for the other side.
Do you remove the old deck?
Yes. Taking out and disposing of the old deck is included in the quote, so you’re not left with a pile of rotten boards in the garden. If yours is being replaced, see decking repairs and replacement.
